In Maricopa County, Tempe is a major suburb of Phoenix and is located immediately southeast with Scottsdale is immediately to the north of Tempe. The head offices of US Airways is stationed in Tempe as well as past host of the Fiesta Bowl. It is also the spring training city of the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim near Los Angeles, but in Anaheim, California. Tempe History

 
It is believed that Darrell Duppa suggested the name Tempe, after comparing the Salt River valley near a 300-foot-tall butte to the Vale of Tempe near Mount Olympus in Greece. The name was adopted in 1879. Duppa also had the honor of giving the name to the city of Phoenix, 11 years earlier.
